Choosing a mode from China is a trade-off between time and cost. Here’s how the three main options compare, and when each makes sense.
Sea — lowest cost, longest transit
Ocean freight has the lowest per-kilogram cost and is the default for large or non-urgent loads — furniture, equipment, bulk goods. Expect roughly 55–75 days. Below a full container, LCL groupage lets you pay for the volume you use. See sea freight from China.
Rail — the balanced middle
Rail arrives in about 40–50 days at a price well under air — a good fit for seasonal stock, electronics and auto parts. See rail freight from China.
Air — fastest, highest cost
Air freight (14–21 days standard, 4–6 express) is for urgent, high-value or light cargo where speed outweighs the rate. See air freight from China.
